About this Role

Are you a kind, friendly cook who believes food should be warm, nourishing, and made with care?

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable School Cook to prepare daily hot lunches for 45 learners and staff in our specialist alternative provision. This is more than a catering role, it’s a chance to be part of a school where relationships, wellbeing, and learner voice sit at the heart of everything we do.

Your meals will be a valued part of the school day, helping create comfort, routine, and a sense of belonging for young people who thrive in a nurturing environment.

🍴 What you’ll bring

  • Experience cooking fresh, healthy meals for groups
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen compliance (Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent)
  • Ability to plan simple, nutritious menus within budget
  • Confidence catering for a range of dietary needs and allergies
  • Good organisation and time management in a busy kitchen
  • A calm, positive, and caring manner with young people and staff
  • Pride in keeping a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team

🌟 What we offer

  • A welcoming, supportive, and friendly staff team
  • A strong culture of collaboration and care
  • A comprehensive wellbeing package for staff
  • High-quality professional development opportunities
  • The chance to make a genuine difference in a specialist setting where your work truly matters

If you are looking for a role where you can cook with compassion, make a meaningful impact, and be part of a school community that values both staff and learners, we would love to hear from you.

Come and help us ensure every learner flourishes and every voice is heard.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications. Please apply as soon as possible.
