St Mary's C of E Primary School is seeking a caring, patient
and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated
team for 4 days per week. This role will primarily involve supporting
pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 2 classroom, although there may be
opportunities to work alongside children in other classes as required.

The Role
You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to
support pupils with SEND to access learning successfully within the classroom
environment. You will play a vital role in helping children develop confidence,
independence and positive relationships, whilst ensuring that their individual
needs are met in line with their EHCP outcomes and support plans.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building
positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Supporting
children to regulate their emotions and behaviour using agreed strategies.
- Providing
sensory breaks, movement breaks and time-out opportunities where
appropriate.
- Adapting
learning activities and resources to enable children with SEND to access
the curriculum alongside their peers.
- Encouraging
inclusion and participation in all aspects of school life.
- Working
proactively under the direction of the SENDCo and class teacher to ensure
children receive the support they need.
- Supporting
pupils across the school when required.

- Can
use their initiative and respond proactively to children's needs.
- Is a
strong team player who works effectively with colleagues and families.
- Is
willing to take the time to get to know children, understand their
strengths and challenges, and meet them where they are.
- Minimum
English and Maths GCSE
Previous experience of supporting children with SEND,
including those with EHCPs, would be advantageous, although the right personal
qualities and a willingness to learn are equally important.
