Subject Lead for Design Technology

Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR 2A

Hours: Core school hours

The Ferrers School is seeking to appoint a passionate & highly motivated DT specialist to oversee subject development in the Design Technology subjects. 

This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding teacher who can model excellence in teaching while also securing hearts and minds as a leader.  We are looking for someone who can think strategically, working closely with the Curriculum Leader for Art and Design Technology, to drive up standards across all key stages. We strive to bring about rapid improvement to secure better progress for our learners. 

The successful candidate will be a highly committed leader and team player, with a true passion for Design Technology and an understanding of the strategies required to motivate and inspire students. They will work in close partnership with middle leaders and the leadership team, embedding The Ferrers Framework and harnessing our research-informed culture to support outstanding classroom practice.

The ideal candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status and degree in specialist subject
  • Experience of teaching at KS3 to KS4
  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • Evidence of both pastoral and curriculum responsibilities
  •  Evidence of securing high outcomes from students
  •  Commitment to continuing professional development
  •  Effective form tutoring and committed to the importance of pastoral support
  •  Understand and be a proud advocate of the five values of all Meridian Trust schools
  •  Believe that students make the best progress when teaching is well planned and well delivered
