The primary purpose of the post is to support the
children in the classroom setting so they can engage in learning effectively.
The successful candidate will:

Have high expectations and a commitment to supporting children

Have excellent communication skills

Have a positive outlook and a good sense of humour
•
Demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills, (GCSE A-C in Maths & English
or equivalent)
•
Have (or be willing to undertake) relevant first aid qualifications
•
Be able to implement learning activities to enable the child to access the
curriculum
•
Have a willingness to learn new skills
•
Have the ability to build the child’s self-esteem
•
Use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies in line with the
school’s ethos and behaviour policy.
•
Be an excellent team player
•
Be organised and able to work independently and under pressure
•
Have a flexible, calm and professional manner
An understanding of the Early Years curriculum
is desirable as well as experience of the needs of autistic children.
