‘This is a school that is at the heart of its community. Relationships between staff, pupils, parents and carers are very strong. Every pupil is cherished and supported well to ‘dream big’. Ofsted Nov 2024

SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy, part of the St Gabriel the Archangel Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an inspiring, passionate Teaching Assistant to join our trust to support our incredible EYFS phase where ‘children get off to the strongest start’ Ofsted Nov 2024.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young children, and a desire to support foundational knowledge across the breadth of the curriculum in order to get every pupil off to the best start in school. The candidate must have a strong commitment to inclusive education and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team in our welcoming and successful school. The post requires the candidate to have experience of working within an EYFS setting across the early years phase.

Suitable candidates would benefit from having experience and training related to delivering the RWI phonics scheme.

We are looking for candidates who are professional, engaging, dynamic and eager to contribute to the spiritual and academic development of the children in our school. An ability to communicate effectively with children, within the team and with parents is essential. The successful practitioner will need to be flexible with working on a 1:1, small group or whole-class basis, and be a great team member to add further strength to the phase.

We can offer a supportive working environment,  where all staff are valued and where there are extensive opportunities for professional development.

Visits to the school are strongly recommended. Please contact the school directly to book a visit by calling 01902 556447

The successful applicant will:

  • Work under the direction and guidance of teaching / senior staff in supporting pupils working across the academy, to ensure they make excellent progress.

  • Contribute to the strong Catholic ethos of our academy.

  • Have experience delivering phonics lessons (SSPP is a RWI school)

  • Meet pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs as well as their pastoral and welfare needs.  This includes working closely with staff, parents and outside agencies where necessary to promote effective safeguarding of all children.

  • Develop good relationships with pupils, staff, parents, representatives, directors and primary MAT partners.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and pre-employment medical clearance. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), online searches will also be carried out for shortlisted candidates. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
