Role Overview – SEND & Intervention Learning Support Assistant

The SEND and Intervention Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is a key part of the school team, helping teachers and pupils to make learning fun, engaging, and accessible for everyone. This role focuses on supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and personal growth, with extra support for those with SEND. You’ll help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and inspired to reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work alongside teachers to help pupils understand lessons and complete activities, adapting support to each child’s needs.

  • SEND & Intervention: Provide targeted support and interventions for pupils with SEND, keeping records and contributing to planning and reviews.

  • Pastoral Care: Encourage positive behaviour, support friendships, and help children feel safe and confident, both in the classroom and during playtime.

  • Lunchtime Support: Promote healthy eating, play, and fun activities, while helping children enjoy their lunch break in a positive and caring atmosphere.

  • Administration: Assist teachers with planning and paperwork to track pupil progress.

  • Team Contribution: Be part of the school community, take part in professional development, and help promote the school’s values.
