About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, innovative and effective Head of Department to lead PSHE, RS and Citizenship at The Telford Langley School. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning, raising standards and outcomes for all students.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to develop their leadership skills within a supportive and collaborative environment, working closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the Community Academies Trust.

 The successful applicant will:

  • The ability to teach either Sociology or Citizenship GCSE would be desirable, but not essential
  • Model excellence in day-to-day leadership.
  • Lead the development of high quality, learning centred policies and practices.
  • Work with staff to ensure the subject areas reflect the school’s ethos and aims.
  • Develop a strategic view for the subject areas which support the vision, ethos and policies of the school.
  • Support the creation and implementation of the school improvement plan, especially as it relates to the subject areas and to take responsibility for appropriately delegated aspects of it.
  • Use national, local and school management data effectively, to monitor standards across the subjects.
  • Monitor the progress made towards achieving annual plans and targets and use the information to plan future developments.
  • Ensure that parents are well informed about the curriculum, targets, children’s progress and attainment within their appropriate year groups.

We will offer you:

  • An extensive CPD program to nurture and develop your talents at all levels.
  • A professional, hard-working and supportive team that works together to create a welcoming, vibrant learning culture inclusive to all.
  • Access to a network of successful schools to share best practice and develop career prospects at the highest level.

Community Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo appropriate checks, including enhanced DBS checks and a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the standards which flows from Community Academies Trust vision and values.

The role is covered by part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

Community Academies Trust supports Equal Opportunities Employment.
