The Role

As Head of Design & Technology, you will:

  • Lead the strategic development of the D&T curriculum, ensuring it is broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated for all learners .

  • Monitor and support student progress across all key stages, taking action to raise achievement where needed.

  • Champion high‑quality teaching, ensuring practice is consistently good or outstanding.

  • Manage and develop a committed team, promoting collaboration, professional growth and the sharing of best practice.

  • Oversee departmental quality assurance, including lesson observations, book scrutiny and data analysis.

  • Ensure the department is fully compliant with safeguarding, health & safety and academy policies.

  • Lead curriculum planning, assessment, remote learning provision and home‑learning expectations.

  • Represent the department at key academy events, meetings and external liaison opportunities.

You will also be responsible and accountable for all disciplines within the provision of Technology .

About You

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader who brings:

  • Strong knowledge of the D&T curriculum across KS3–5.

  • Evidence of high‑quality teaching leading to excellent pupil outcomes.

  • Experience in departmental development planning and leading change.

  • The ability to inspire, enthuse and support colleagues.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and decision‑making skills.

  • A commitment to equal opportunities, positive behaviour strategies and strong parental engagement.

You will also demonstrate “the ability to prioritise, plan, monitor, evaluate, review and lead by example” .
