About this Role

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is seeking an inspiring Subject Lead for Social Sciences to shape and develop our provision in Sociology and Psychology. This is a great opportunity for a skilled practitioner to lead on curriculum design, strengthen the profile of both subjects, and ensure students benefit from engaging, high-quality teaching.

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is an ambitious 11–16 secondary school at the heart of a close-knit community in North Buckinghamshire. The Role

As Subject Lead for Social Sciences, you will:

  • Design, develop and lead an ambitious Sociology and Psychology curriculum across Key Stage 4
  • Shape the long-term vision for Social Sciences, ensuring high-quality teaching, informed by research and best practice
  • Model excellent classroom practice that brings both subjects to life and sparks curiosity in students
  • Use assessment and data effectively to secure strong progress and high standards
  • Create engaging resources and schemes of learning that support accessible, challenging lessons
  • Contribute to whole-school development, collaborating with colleagues to enrich the broader educational experience
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to achieve their best

What We’re Looking For

We are keen to hear from candidates who:

  • Hold a degree in a relevant Social Sciences discipline and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have strong subject knowledge in Sociology and/or Psychology
  • Are skilled classroom practitioners with the ability to inspire critical thinking and independence
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ambition to build and grow a curriculum area
  • Are reflective, committed to professional learning and eager to shape a developing subject offer
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents
