About this Role

You will play a key role in our ‘Prepare for Learning’ unit, ensuring it is a safe, purposeful, and structured environment where pupils can reflect, reset, and re-engage with education.

At Kings Priory, we foster a strong culture where knowledge matters, and where every member of staff models our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Hard Work.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

  • Manage behaviour and engagement of pupils within the ‘Prepare for Learning’ unit, many of whom may be disengaged from learning
  • Create a calm, structured environment that supports reflection and progress
  • Coordinate and oversee work set by subject staff, liaising with departments and Heads of Year
  • Ensure pupils complete reflection activities and remain on task
  • Monitor, record and evaluate pupil progress through success ratings and daily records
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using systems such as ClassCharts and CPOMS (full training will be given)
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils to build confidence, self-esteem and motivation
  • Support pupils in developing independent learning, organisational and study skills
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, teaching staff and SEND colleagues to meet individual pupil needs
  • Contribute to behaviour plans and provide feedback to parents/carers where appropriate
  • Ensure safeguarding, attendance and administrative processes are followed

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people in any setting (essential)
  • Demonstrates strong judgement, clear decision-making, and emotional resilience
  • Is warm, approachable, and understanding, while also being firm and consistent
  • Can identify underlying factors influencing behaviour and respond appropriately
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is committed to supporting all pupils to succeed, including those with SEND

School-based experience is not essential – full support and training will be provided.

  • You'll report to the Assistant Principal (Behaviour) and work closely with pastoral teams, Heads of Year, teaching staff and SEND colleagues.
