About this Role

Compass Academy is a unique KS3 Alternative Provision in Hull  that supports pupils with a variety of needs from Hull and outer areas.

Many of our pupils have been permanently excluded from their mainstream schools' and/or require specialist support to enable pupils with identified SEND needs to access education.

A large number of our cohort have experienced a range of early childhood traumas which impacts on a child's emotional wellbeing and ability to regulate their behaviour. Many of our pupils present with complex needs and as such, require high levels of specialist support and intervention.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will support in leading interventions to support pupils' welfare and learning needs.

This role will  advance pupils’ learning in a range of key areas including: Speech and Language, Reading, Basic Skills, Life Skills and relevant welfare matters.

This role will involve supporting individual pupils or groups and may on occasion also include covering short term absence. Activities involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities as well as monitoring pupils, assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and development, under the direction of the class/subject teacher and SENCO.

Job Details

Hours of Work: 37 Hours per Week, Term Time Only

Position Type: Permanent Post

Line Manager: SENCO

Travel Required: Occasional
