Start date: September 2026 or sooner

Place of work:     Cambourne Village College, Cambourne, Cambridgeshire

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and innovative Teacher of French with Spanish and/or German to join our lively and supportive Modern Foreign Languages Department. The ability to offer Spanish and/or German would be an advantage.

The Modern Languages Department is already well established with high standards of teaching and learning across Years 7-11. We enjoy new classrooms with excellent facilities and equipment in each: whiteboard, projector, audio/visual facilities, class sets of textbooks and dictionaries, use of IT rooms and iPads and our pupils are courteous and keen to learn. All pupils learn a language in KS3, with some pupils offered the opportunity to learn French or German on top of Spanish. All learn in mixed ability groups. The pupils have the opportunity to continue to study a language to GCSE level in Year 11.

We strive to enhance our teaching with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, which include trips and exchanges to Spain, France and Germany. All Year 7 pupils participate in curriculum-based projects such as Spelling Bee, Eurovision and the International Talent Evening. Part of our on-going development work also includes close liaison with our feeder primary schools to deliver Spanish at KS2. Pupils in Year 9 are invited to apply to become Language Leaders and learn to deliver lessons in our catchment primary schools.

Our Schemes of Work are based around the Dinamo, ¡Viva! and Stimmt! courses at KS3, and we teach the AQA GCSE in Spanish, French and German at KS4. The full current curriculum for all year groups can be viewed on the College website.

Cambourne Village College is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated, over-subscribed secondary school, eight miles from Cambridge. We opened as an academy of the Cam Academy Trust in September 2013. Our ethos is aspirational and inclusive, our staff is highly motivated, our pupils courteous and hard-working, and we have excellent facilities. A 350 place sixth form opened in September 2024, with 175 students in each of Years 12 and 13.

It is an exciting time to join our teaching staff at Cambourne Village College. Already a well-established and successful school, the addition of our Sixth Form marks the final phase of our expansion. The school benefits from a wealth of exciting facilities and a strong culture of mutual support; staff morale is high and our students are courteous and eager to participate in the highly engaging curriculum offered to them. We are ambitious for our Sixth Form to reflect the successes of our main school, where results are consistently strong, with excellent Progress 8 scores. Cambourne Village College is a 1:1 iPad school, with all students having a personal device.

Joining Cambourne Village College represents a unique opportunity to work in a well-established school within a wider, high-quality Academy Trust that gives excellent possibilities for professional and career development.
