About the Role

Beamont Collegiate Academy is seeking an exceptional and committed individual to join our team as the Director of Humanities. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the strategic direction of our Humanities department, ensuring high-quality teaching, a well-sequenced curriculum, and excellent outcomes for all students. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving staff development, promoting consistency in practice, and implementing impactful interventions.

We are looking for a passionate leader who is dedicated to Humanities education, has high expectations for all learners, and can inspire both students and staff through strong subject leadership. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of our students and contribute to the wider success of the academy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Humanities department, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an engaging, challenging, and inclusive Humanities curriculum.
  • Drive staff development through coaching, targeted professional development, and performance management.
  • Monitor and quality-assure classroom practice to ensure it meets or exceeds academy standards.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, professional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Model excellence as an outstanding practitioner, delivering high-quality Humanities teaching.
  • Use data to monitor student progress, set ambitious targets, and implement effective interventions.
  • Inspire and motivate staff and students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • A good degree from a recognised university and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching GCSE Humanities and leading a Humanities team.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Passion for Humanities education and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
