About this Role

We are looking to appoint a caring considerate, enthusiastic, well-motivated Teaching Assistant to join our talented team.  Good Maths and English GCSE results desired. Previous TA experience preferred but training will be given if necessary. A professional approach is essential. 

May be of interest to someone considering a career in teaching or with strong IT, maths or science skills.

The role will involve working with a range of students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in the classroom, small groups and 1:1 in a variety of subject areas. 

Key Tasks

To support Students in accessing the whole curriculum by:

  1. Helping students to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually.
  2. Establishing a positive working relationship with students.
  3. Championing the inclusion of students with special needs.
  4. Promoting the students’ self esteem.
  5. Encouraging independence and self reliance in the students.
  6. Support and implement the strategies outlined on the students’ EHCP’s and One Plans.


To support the teachers to meet students’ special needs by:

  1. Liaising with staff where possible.
  2. Providing feedback to staff on successes and difficulties students may be experiencing.


To support subject teams by:

  1. Providing oversight and continuity for those students with SEN within the link subject.
  2. Liaising with Heads of Year Groups and Subject Leaders as necessary.


To support the SENCO by:

  1. Providing information on the progress of identified students.
  2. To oversee the gathering of information on the named students with statements.


To take responsibility for one’s own professional development by:

  1. Contributing fully to the performance management arrangements.
  2. Identifying personal professional needs within the context of the role held.
  3. Sharing and contributing insights and expertise in staff meetings and with the line manager.
