As Head of PE, you will:

  • Lead with vision – setting high expectations and fostering a culture of excellence across the department.
  • Inspire progress – ensuring engaging, innovative schemes of work that empower students of all abilities to achieve their best.
  • Drive impact – improving standards of attainment and progress across all key stages.
  • Develop people – supporting and challenging colleagues, nurturing professional growth, and building a collaborative, high-performing team.
  • Make a difference – using creative strategies, enrichment opportunities, and robust assessment to unlock potential in every student.

 We want someone who is:

  • A skilled classroom practitioner and role model with a track record of strong outcomes.
  • A strategic leader who can analyse data, plan interventions, and deliver sustained improvement.
  • An innovator, able to make PE inspiring, relevant, and enjoyable for all learners.
  • A strong communicator, ready to engage parents, colleagues, and the wider community.
  • Committed to our ethos that “every student has the right to learn, grow and achieve.”

 What we have to offer:

  • A visible and approachable senior leadership team and an enthusiastic and committed team of teachers and support staff.
  • A strong support network both within the school and across Authentic Education.
  • All staff are part of a professional learning community in which evidence-informed CPD is designed to meet individual needs.
  • Strong potential for career progression.
  • A culture that respects work-life balance and an ongoing commitment to wellbeing with a dedicated Wellbeing Champion.
  • An Employee Assistance Programme including in the moment support and counselling sessions with an external provider.
  • Staff benefits include free eye testing for DSE users through Specsavers, free will writing through Dunham McCarthy Solicitors and reduced price corporate gym membership through BH Live.
  • A competitive pension through Teachers’ Pensions or The Local Government Pension Scheme for support staff.
