About this Role

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people and their families to overcome barriers to education? We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Family Liaison Officer to join our pastoral team and play a vital role in improving student attendance, wellbeing, and engagement.

You will take a lead role in reducing persistent absence, supporting early intervention strategies, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for parents/carers regarding attendance and behaviour
  • Build strong relationships with families to proactively remove barriers to learning
  • Work with the pastoral team to reduce persistent absence and improve engagement
  • Develop and monitor pastoral support plans for identified students
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to data tracking using SIMS
  • Support behaviour systems, rewards tracking, and intervention strategies
  • Assist with the coordination of suspensions, exclusions, and reintegration processes
  • Work collaboratively with staff, external agencies, and partner schools
  • Support transition processes, including in-year admissions and exits
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is confident working with young people and families in challenging situations
  • Can build trust and maintain positive, professional relationships
  • Is organised, resilient, and able to manage a varied workload
  • Has experience (or interest) in education, pastoral care, or family support
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

What We have to Offer:

  • A visible and approachable senior leadership team and an enthusiastic and committed team of teachers and support staff.
  • A strong support network both within the school and across Authentic Education.
  • All staff are part of a professional learning community in which evidence-informed CPD is designed to meet individual needs.
  • Strong potential for career progression.
  • A culture that respects work-life balance and an ongoing commitment to wellbeing with a dedicated Wellbeing Champion.
  • An Employee Assistance Programme including in the moment support and counselling sessions with an external provider.
  • Staff benefits include free eye testing for DSE users through Specsavers, free will writing through Dunham McCarthy Solicitors and reduced-price corporate gym membership through BH Live.
  • A competitive pension through Teachers’ Pensions or The Local Government Pension Scheme for support staff.
