The Role
We are seeking a dedicated
and highly organised Medical Needs Coordinator to lead on first aid
provision and medical care across Oak Academy. This is a vital role ensuring
the health, safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors, while also
supporting the academy’s administrative and inclusion functions.
The successful candidate
will act as the academy’s Lead First Aider, coordinating medical care,
maintaining accurate records, liaising with families and external
professionals, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Lead First Aider, responding to and
coordinating first aid and emergency care
- Manage and oversee first aid provision and
first aiders across the academy
- Maintain accident records, incident reports
and medical documentation in line with HSE and RIDDOR requirements
- Coordinate and update student medical care
plans, risk assessments, PEEPs, SIPs and MIPs
- Manage the safe storage, administration and
recording of medication
- Liaise with parents/carers, staff and external
health professionals regarding medical needs
- Support students with complex or ongoing
medical conditions
- Organise immunisation programmes and
specialist medical training for staff
- Ensure first aid supplies are fully stocked
and available for on-site and off-site activities
- Provide administrative and reception support,
including phone calls, communication with parents and clerical tasks
- Support inclusion processes, including EHCP
annual reviews
About You
You will be calm under
pressure, highly organised and confident working with children who may have
complex medical and additional needs. You will have a strong understanding of
safeguarding and confidentiality and be able to communicate effectively with pupils,
staff, parents and external agencies.
Essential skills and
qualities include:
- Experience in first aid or medical
coordination (school or similar setting desirable)
- Strong administrative and organisational
skills
- Confidence managing medical records and
digital systems
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a
multi-disciplinary team
- A caring, professional and proactive approach
