We are looking for an experienced colleague to join our Attendance and SEND Team as soon as possible. Emotionally
Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA) is a ‘broad umbrella term used to describe
a group of children and young people
who have a severe difficulty in attending school due to emotional factors,
often resulting in prolonged absences from school’.
You will work with students who struggle to come into school, perhaps due to a lack of confidence, anxiety or low literacy and numeracy skills and support them to return to school with the goal of consistently attending school full time.
This role will support the SEND provision, aiming to slowly reintegrate students back into full-time mainstream education. The ability to engage with students and families to build relationships and to raise the student’s resilience, self-confidence and self-esteem would be an essential skill. Eventually getting students re-introduced to the school environment via a bespoke on-site 'home from home' provision and gradually supporting students with barriers to learning and re-engagement with learning will be your priority. You will deliver interventions within the environment or enable them to access lessons through online links to gradually build confidence and re-engage with the curriculum and each curriculum area. Working with these students and enabling them to access main-stream schooling again will be both satisfying and rewarding. You will be supported by experienced colleagues who are committed and passionate about this important role within our school. As it is a new post, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the success of this role and implement initiatives borne from your experience. It is essential that the successful candidate will already have at least two years’ experience of working with young people.
