Pastoral Care
At Lord Williams's School, we take great pride in the pastoral care we provide to all our students. We firmly believe that children thrive academically when they feel happy, secure and supported in their school environment. Our pastoral system is designed to nurture each student’s well-being, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
Central to everything we do are our core values: Aspiration, Respect and Kindness. We encourage students to aspire to achieve their best in all areas of school life, while fostering a culture of respect for themselves, their peers and the wider community. Through kindness, we build strong, supportive relationships where students feel safe to share their concerns and celebrate successes together.
While we cannot guarantee that every child will feel happy at all times, we make a clear promise to our students and their families: any concerns or incidents reported to us will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that the best possible support is provided for each child, promoting an environment where they can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
For more information about our pastoral team and the structure in place to support students, please see the ‘Pastoral Structure’ section on the school website. Here, you will find details of the staff members who have responsibility for the Pastoral care at Lord Williams’s school at Lord Williams’s School, every child matters.
By embedding Aspiration, Respect and Kindness into our pastoral care, we aim to create a school community where every student feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.
There is a strong Pastoral structure consisting of teachers who are Heads of each academic year group, supported by Pastoral Support Officers who do not have a teaching role.
About the Sixth Form
We have a very popular Sixth Form with over 550 students. We pay particular attention to each individual student to promote their personal, social and educational development for achievement at the highest possible level.
The Sixth Form is a key part of Lord Williams’s School offering our own students and those from other schools the opportunity to receive a high quality education to prepare for the future be that in education, employment or training. We welcome new students to the Sixth Form as they enrich the experience for all.
We promote high quality teaching and learning; we attract talented, committed and conscientious teachers who produce stimulating and challenging learning activities in the classroom helped by experienced support staff.
The range of extra-curricular opportunities is considerable including sport, the arts, outdoor adventure and charity fundraising and mentoring. We believe that learning extends well beyond the bounds of the classroom.
We pride ourselves on the pastoral care of our students. We help students to have a sense of belonging and we respect their individuality. All of this is underpinned by our strong partnership with parents, staff, students, governors and the local, national and international community.
