About this Role

About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of PSHE with the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to our students. The successful candidate will join a growing Ethics Department made up of strong specialist practitioners.

Alongside teaching the faculty’s PSHE curriculum across Years 7–13, the successful applicant will also have the opportunity to teach on the department’s examined courses, including GCSE Religious Studies and A Level Philosophy, Sociology, and Psychology. Please state clearly within your application which subjects you are qualified and confident to teach, together with your relevant experience.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful classroom practice, supported by strong subject knowledge. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, who can engage, inspire, and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate and enthusiastic about learning and their specialist subject
  • An inspirational, creative, and highly effective teacher
  • Committed to securing excellent progress for all students, particularly disadvantaged learners
  • Hardworking and imaginative, with excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • A collaborative team player who values working with colleagues across all levels of the school

At Meadowhead School and Sixth Form, you will find:

  • Students who are eager to succeed
  • Supportive and committed colleagues
  • Excellent professional development and guidance

We are committed to investing in the successful candidate through extensive CPD opportunities, including pathways to middle leadership via nationally recognised leadership programmes. A personalised CPD plan will be developed to support career progression in line with your aspirations and goals.

Staff benefits also include enrolment in the enhanced Smart Clinic package, offering a wide range of health and wellbeing support services.

If you would like to join our school, where every person matters, please submit your application by the closing date below. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. To arrange a visit, please contact Fiona Cope at copef@meadowhead.sheffield.sch.uk

Safeguarding Statement

Meadowhead School and Sixth Form is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We welcome applications from underrepresented groups, including those relating to ethnicity, gender, transgender identity, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.

Any role involving work with children requires the declaration of all convictions and cautions, including those considered spent. A DBS check will be completed before employment begins. Shortlisted candidates will also be asked to declare any convictions.

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 and safer recruitment practices, the school will carry out an online search of shortlisted candidates. This search will review publicly available information relevant to suitability to work with children.

References will be requested prior to interview at the shortlisting stage and may be used as part of the selection process. Where previous employment has involved working with children, at least one referee must be from that employment, even if it is not the most recent role. Any gaps in employment must be clearly explained within the application form.
