About this Role

The successful candidate will be keen to work alongside an established team determined to create an excellent learning experience for all of our students.  The successful candidate would be responsible for the delivery of the KS3 curriculum in History, Geography and Religious Education.  Our vision is to ensure all learners develop the skills needed to achieve success in their examinations as well as developing a lifelong interest in Humanities subjects.  We aim to develop each student’s ability to work independently and become critical thinkers.  You would inspire and motivate young people to learn about both past and current events and understand how these help them to fit into the current world in which they live. We endeavour to ensure that all students benefit from enrichment opportunities and provide access to a wide range of trips and visits.  We would welcome any contribution you could make to these activities at The Sele School.  We believe in the statement ‘Education about the world, for life in the world beyond school.’

The position would suit either an ECT seeking a first appointment within a forward-thinking school or a more experienced teacher wishing to develop their experience and curriculum management skills.

 What can we offer you?

·         The opportunity to work with excellent students whose behaviour is exemplary.

·         The chance to work in a positive, welcoming and forward-thinking community where evidence-based methods are seamlessly integrated into teaching and learning.

·         A dedicated staff who are enthusiastic and who want the best for our students.

·         Mentoring provision for all those new to middle or senior leadership.

·         A CPD package which is tailored to suit your stage of career development.

·         Cycle to work scheme which is part of the school’s sustainability strategy.

The learning climate is impeccable and the culture of driving up standards is upheld by all who attend The Sele School. We offer our staff a comprehensive CPD programme with opportunities to visit our partner schools. If you wish to learn more about the school, please feel free to view the videos on our school website which can be found on the “About Us – School Vision and Ethos”

The Governing Body of The Sele School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work.

This post is classed as having a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  An enhanced disclosure will be sought through the DBS as part of the School’s pre-employment checks.   Staff will also be required to complete Child Protection and PREVENT training.
