About Us
Wembley High Technology College is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2024, our Progress 8 score of +1.43 meant that our students on average achieved nearly one and a half grades higher than their peers nationally. This progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE has a transformative impact on our pupils’ life chances and last year, over 60% of pupils leaving us went on to Russell Group universities to study a range of academic subjects.
The Science Department
‘Achievement for All’ is the ethos that underpins everything
we do across the WMAT, and the Science department is uniquely positioned to
equip our students with the analytical and problem-solving skills they need to
thrive in an ever-changing world. The Science Department is led by
enthusiastic, highly qualified and committed teachers, working with motivated,
ambitious, and able students.
All three Sciences are taught together in Key Stage
3. In Years 10 and 11, students are taught by subject specialists in Biology,
Chemistry and Physics. In 2025, over
half (58%) of all Science exams were graded 9-7 including 100 grade 9s.
All three Sciences are highly popular subjects in
the Sixth Form. In recent years this has led to successful applications to
Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial, as well as competitive pathways such as Medicine
and Engineering. Our Sixth Form teachers are instrumental in supporting our
students in this.
The
College has dedicated laboratories with specialist equipment and interactive
whiteboards. Teachers are supported by a dedicated and dynamic Science Technician
team. The Science Department plan lessons collaboratively to ensure that
resources are gold standard.
The
College has a busy Science-based co-curricular programme, which all staff take
part in. Students regularly enter the RSC Olympiads and attend lectures at
London universities and beyond. We also run our Early-Entry Cohort (EEC)
programme to support students applying to competitive courses at Oxford and
Cambridge, as well as medicine and dentistry.
Professional Development
Through
the Training School Hub, leaders at all levels of the Trust benefit from
exceptional professional development, including fully-funded, DfE-accredited
NPQ programmes. These gold-standard qualifications empower our leaders to grow,
drive change and make a meaningful impact within their departments and across
the Trust. If you are excited by the prospect of shaping the next generation of
digital thinkers and innovators, and you enjoy working within a culture of high
aspiration and shared best practice, we would be delighted to hear from you.
