About Us
Wembley High Technology College is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2024, our Progress 8 score of +1.43 meant that our students on average achieved nearly one and a half grades higher than their peers nationally. This progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE has a transformative impact on our pupils’ life chances and last year, over 60% of pupils leaving us went on to Russell Group universities to study a range of academic subjects.
The Computer Science Department
‘Achievement for All’ is the
ethos that underpins everything we do across the WMAT, and the Computer Science
Department plays a vital role in equipping students with the digital literacy,
computational thinking and problem-solving skills they need to thrive in an
increasingly technological world. Computer Science at Wembley High Technology
College is a highly valued and forward-looking subject, central to our
commitment to preparing students for future study and employment.
The
Computer Science Department is led by enthusiastic, highly skilled and
committed teachers, working with motivated, ambitious and capable students. All
students study Computer Science in Key Stage 3, ensuring a strong foundation in
computational thinking, programming and online safety. At Key Stage 4, students
follow GCSE Computer Science and the Digital Information Technology BTEC Tech
Award, providing both academic and vocational pathways that meet the needs and
aspirations of all learners.
The
department has a clear focus on high-quality teaching, collaborative planning
and the use of industry-relevant software and resources. Lessons are designed
to be engaging, challenging and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on real-world
applications of computing and digital technologies. Students are encouraged to
develop resilience, creativity and independence as learners.
Computer
Science is further enriched through a growing co-curricular offer, supporting
students to deepen their interest and extend their skills beyond the classroom.
The subject also plays a key role in the school’s wider commitment to online
safety and digital responsibility, with key concepts revisited through a spiral
curriculum.
This
is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and reflective Teacher of Computer
Science to join a department that is well-resourced, highly collaborative and
committed to continuous improvement, in a school where technology, innovation
and opportunity are central to the student experience.
