About Us
Wembley High Technology College
is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the
achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2024, our Progress 8 score of +1.43
meant that our students on average achieved nearly one and a half grades higher
than their peers nationally. This progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE has a transformative
impact on our pupils’ life chances and last year, over 60% of pupils leaving us
went on to Russell Group universities to study a range of academic subjects.
The Religious
Studies Department
‘Achievement
for All’ is the ethos that underpins everything we do across the WMAT, and
Religious Studies occupies a distinctive place at the heart of intellectual
life at Wembley High Technology College. The Religious Studies Department is
highly collaborative, academically ambitious and deeply committed to developing
students’ understanding of religion, philosophy and ethics, united by a shared
belief in the importance of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and
respectful dialogue.
The
department enables students to engage thoughtfully with some of the most
profound questions about human existence, belief, morality and society. Our
curriculum introduces students to a rich range of religious, philosophical and
ethical perspectives, encouraging them to analyse arguments, evaluate evidence
and develop informed, balanced judgements. Through the study of diverse
worldviews, students gain a deeper understanding of both themselves and the
complex world in which they live.
Religious
Studies is part of a dynamic learning community that values outstanding
teaching, innovative practice and meaningful enrichment. The department
benefits from excellent resourcing and a culture that encourages both staff and
students to engage with contemporary debates and scholarship. Deliberate
opportunities are built into the curriculum to foster reflection, discussion
and independent thought alongside academic rigour.
We
are seeking an inspiring and ambitious Subject Leader of Religious Studies to
lead this thriving department into its next phase of development. This is an
outstanding opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner with the
vision, drive and credibility to shape high-quality teaching and learning and
to sustain a culture of high expectations.
The
successful candidate may be an experienced leader or an aspiring Subject Leader
ready to take their first step into departmental leadership. They will be
excited to teach across the full age range from Year 7 to Year 13, modelling
exceptional practice and supporting colleagues to continually refine and
improve their craft.
They
will be a collaborative, collegiate leader who values teamwork, communicates
expectations with clarity and purpose, and brings energy, warmth and
professionalism to the role. Above all, they will be committed to the
thoughtful, strategic and supportive leadership of a forward-thinking
department, and to ensuring that every student experiences excellence in
Religious Studies.
