Purpose:

As Deputy Headteacher of Culture and Ethos, you will be the driving force behind the school's inclusive vision, bridging the gap between current standards and the exceptional learning environment our community deserves. You will create a safe, transformative atmosphere where high expectations for behaviour and a championing of safeguarding are at the heart of every interaction.

By working collaboratively as a high-performing Senior Leader, you will strategically lead systems for behaviour, attendance and inclusion that celebrate student success while accepting responsibility for rigorous standards. You will tailor your leadership to meet the rich and varied needs of our diverse North Bristol community, providing the relational practice and evidence-informed scaffolding necessary to overcome disadvantage and remove barriers to success. Ultimately, you will play a pivotal role in enacting our mission to inspire students today and empower them with the character and agency they need for life.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

• Provide professional leadership and management to ensure the school's vision and values are enacted with integrity every day.
• Strategically lead on all aspects of behaviour, attendance and safeguarding while championing a culture of safeguarding across the school community.
• Deputise effectively for the Headteacher in their absence.
• Lead strategic and operational quality assurance of behaviour systems, monitoring and evaluating them to promote continual school improvement.
• Act as the lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), leading the safeguarding team and monitoring all safeguarding systems such as CPOMS and Whisper.
• Strategically lead a new inclusion unit for pupils with high levels of suspension to help them improve their behaviour and thrive.
• Develop a culture that enables staff to work collaboratively, share knowledge and accept responsibility for behaviour.
• Oversee the school's CPLD programme for classroom staff to ensure it effectively supports consistency and high standards of behaviour.
• Lead a team of senior leaders focused on inclusion through attendance, behaviour and safeguarding.
• Utilise a range of evidence and inclusion data to support, monitor and improve behaviour and attendance.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with parents, carers and the wider community to enhance the education of young people.
• Lead TAC-style (Team Around the Child) inclusion meetings focused on behaviour, safeguarding and attendance.

Fluency Duty

This role has been identified as falling within the definition of requiring fluency in spoken English. You will be required to speak English with confidence and be able to conduct a conversation and answer questions for extended periods of time.
