Actual Salary: £23,458 - £24,610

Contract: Permanent / Full Time / Term Time Only + Inset Days

Purpose:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be the bridge between a student’s potential and their achievement. You will create a safe, supportive and inspiring presence in the classroom, ensuring that no barrier prevents a child from accessing their education.

By working closely with teaching staff and the SENDCo, you will tailor your support to meet the unique needs of every learner, whether they require academic scaffolding, emotional encouragement or specialist care. You will empower students to grow in independence, build their self-esteem and engage fully with school life. Ultimately, you will play a transformative role in helping our students navigate their learning journey with confidence and success.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

  • Supervising and supporting individuals or small groups inside and outside the classroom to ensure safe access and full participation in all learning activities.
  • Implementing high-quality targeted initiatives, including Literacy, Numeracy, Emotional Literacy (ELSA) and social skills programs to accelerate student progress.
  • Working alongside Teachers, the SENDCo, and external practitioners (such as SALT or Educational Psychologists) to identify student needs and coordinate effective support.
  • Designing and preparing stimulating, personalized learning materials and interventions tailored to the specific additional needs of students.
  • Undertaking structured assessments of student work, recording achievement data on systems such as Arbor or SIMS, and providing feedback to stakeholders.
  • Setting challenging expectations that foster self-esteem and independence while modelling positive values and high standards of behaviour.
  • Assisting with the creation and review of Personalised Learning Plans, EHCPs and other essential SEND or whole-school student documentation.
  • Providing dedicated support for students with complex disabilities, including assisting with personal hygiene or specific medical procedures following specialist training.

We offer:

  • Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
  • Paid induction and training suited to the role
  • Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free parking
  • Use of the Cycle Scheme
  • Paid completion of a DBS check
  • Flu vaccination vouchers
  • Free eye tests (where the employee is desk-based)
  • Where eligible, automatic enrolment to the relevant pension scheme
  • Honouring of continuous service earned in the Local Authority
