As we continue to support our pupils to be able to reach their full potential, we are looking to appoint a Home Reading Lead.
This role will be to increase the consistency of home reading at our school ensuring that the national curriculum requirements are met whilst taking into account our school context. The Home Reading Lead will need to be particularly aware of the needs of the CCA key groups:
• SEND
• Pupil Premium
• EAL
• Temporary accommodation
In line with the school’s aspirational intent, the Home Reading Lead will ensure that reading for pleasure is at the heart of our school and that CCA pupils are inspired to be positive and fluent readers. The Home Reading Lead will support our families to engage in reading at home and build their confidence to support children’s reading. The Reading Lead will ensure consistent challenge appropriate levelled reading with our pupils through monitoring how well this is happening and coaching when this is not embedded consistently ensuring that regular reading is a feature of our school. The celebration of reading is also critical maintaining our incentives such as home reading tracking, reading coins, reward events, and pop in instant rewards will be actioned by this post holder. Relevant training and development for this role will be provided.
The home reading lead will develop understanding of the early journey into reading and how inspirations for reading can be supported. The school’s key groups will be a focus through which impact will be considered.
