About this Role

We are looking for a General Kitchen Assistant to join our busy and vibrant Catering Department. This is a part-time role of 27.5 hours per week. The working hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily from Monday to Friday.

Contract: Part-time, Permanent

Grade: HB Grade (Full-time equivalent salary is £24,413 per annum plus £729 outer fringe allowance per year)

Actual Salary: £15,983 per annum

Hours: 

  • 27.5 hours per week across Mondays to Fridays

  • Working hours: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, including 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Free lunch on school site is provided on your working days.

  • Term time plus 1 week

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Light food preparation

  • Operate the tills at break and lunch times

  • Counter service at lunch time

  • Washing up of cooking equipment

  • Operating dishwasher

  • Kitchen cleaning to include fridges

  • Receiving of deliveries and placing in correct storage locations

  • Keeping stock rooms clean and tidy

  • Setting up any Catering services required

  • Sweeping and mopping of the floor in Catering areas

  • Emptying bins when required

  • Ensuring all Hygiene, Health and Safety standards are followed at all times

  • Work under the instructions of the Catering Manager, Chefs and Kitchen Supervisor

  • Additional duties, commensurate with the post’s grade and responsibility, may be added
