About this Role

About Us:

Candleby Lane School

Candleby Lane School is a vibrant, inclusive, and community‑focused primary school where children truly sit at the heart of everything we do. We are incredibly proud of our warm, welcoming ethos and our commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and able to achieve their very best.

Our dedicated staff team works collaboratively to create a stimulating environment where curiosity is encouraged, individuality is celebrated, and learning is brought to life through a rich and engaging curriculum.

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Teaching Assistant to join the Candleby Lane team. In this role, you will support high‑quality learning across the classroom, working closely with the class teacher and wider staff team to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.  The specific phase for this role is flexible and assigned according to the skills and experience of the appointed candidate.

You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment—whether supporting whole‑class learning, working with small groups, or providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs. Your contribution will be essential in helping every child feel confident, happy, and able to reach their full potential.

Candleby Lane is proud to be part of the Flying High Partnership, a thriving multi‑academy trust of 38 primary schools across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottingham City, and Nottinghamshire. The Flying High Partnership celebrates individuality, promotes high-quality professional development, and is committed to nurturing exceptional teachers, leaders, and support staff. Together, we work to ensure every child thrives and that we make every day count.

About the role

Key Responsibilities

  •  Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND or additional needs, including supporting individual plans.
  • Help deliver structured group activities, adapt resources, and track pupil progress under teacher guidance.
  •  Support pupils’ emotional and behavioural development to promote inclusion and confidence.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support their learning, wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, support staff, and families to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality, uphold safeguarding procedures, and model the school’s values in all interactions.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a committed staff team

What we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children
  • A passion for helping pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally
  • Specific training in high quality academic or pastoral interventions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Have an understanding of the ever changing school environment and the need to be flexible
  • The ability to use your initiative
  • Contributions to wider school life
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

What we offer

  • A welcoming, supportive and friendly school community
  • Professional development opportunities
  • A chance to make a meaningful difference every day
  • A hardworking team who care deeply about children’s success
  • A commitment to people across our partnership, underpinned by our people principles: adaptability, wellness, recognising achievement, employee voice and engagement, professional development and growth, inclusivity, and collaboration.
  • The opportunity to progress across the partnership, realising your career ambitions.
  • Access to an employee assistance programme that offers specialist support, including counselling, financial support, and legal advice.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children every day

If you would like to apply for this role we ask you to please arrange a visit to the school so you can see more of what we offer and the role that you would be applying for.  This will enable you to strengthen your application for the posts.  If you are unable to visit then please contact the school office to arrange a telephone call with our Head Teacher, Claire Lindsay.

We are really looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you as part of our team.

Early application is advised, as we may interview and appoint before the closing date.

Flying High Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. We welcome applications from all sections of the community. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
