Inspire, Nurture, Flourish

At St John’s Catholic Primary School, our mission is simple but powerful: “Let the light of Christ shine in us.”

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our welcoming and ambitious school community. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Early Career Teacher or a more experienced colleague to thrive in a nurturing environment where every child – and every adult – is encouraged to flourish.

Whether you are taking your first steps in teaching or looking for your next opportunity to grow, you will be supported, valued, and inspired.

About Us

St John’s is a small, one-form entry Catholic primary school at the heart of Baldock. Our size is our strength – we know our children and families exceptionally well and pride ourselves on the strong relationships we build.

Our school is deeply rooted in Catholic values, promoting dignity, compassion, and a commitment to the common good. Everything we do is centred on developing the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

We are proud of our inclusive ethos, where every child feels safe, valued and able to achieve their full potential.

The Role

You will:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
  • Inspire pupils through creative and well-sequenced learning that builds on prior knowledge
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL and higher attainment
  • Promote high standards of behaviour within a caring and inclusive classroom culture
  • Assess and respond to pupils’ progress to ensure strong outcomes for all
  • Contribute fully to the wider life of the school, including its Catholic ethos and community

This role offers the opportunity to teach across different phases and develop a broad skillset within a supportive team.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is enthusiastic, reflective and committed to continuous improvement
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
  • Demonstrates resilience, professionalism and high expectations for all
  • Has a genuine passion for helping children grow academically and personally
  • Embraces and supports the Catholic ethos of the school

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners who are eager to make a meaningful difference.

What We Offer

  • A warm, welcoming and supportive school community
  • Strong induction and mentoring for Early Career Teachers
  • High-quality professional development and career progression opportunities
  • A collaborative staff team who value wellbeing and workload balance
  • Engaged pupils who enjoy learning and take pride in their school
  • A clear commitment to inclusive practice and high standards

Visits and Applications

We warmly encourage prospective applicants to visit our school and experience our community first-hand.

To arrange a visit or request further information, please contact the school office or Thomas Timson, Headteacher.

Safeguarding Statement

St John’s Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to satisfactory safeguarding checks.

We are committed to building a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a teaching role – it is an opportunity to be part of a community that values care, ambition and purpose.

If you are ready to inspire young minds and help shape the next generation, we would love to hear from you.
