About this Role

Elburton Primary School are looking for a compassionate and proactive Children & Families Support Worker to help our pupils and families thrive. In this rewarding role, you’ll support children’s wellbeing, engagement and attendance, while building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers.

What You’ll Do as a Children & Families Support Worker

  • Provide day‑to‑day emotional and practical support to children, including leading ELSA, Keyworker and social skills groups.
  • Support transitions, behaviour interventions and unstructured times throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with families—offering early help, signposting, supporting appointments, and improving parental engagement.
  • Help coordinate parent workshops, community events, and multi‑agency meetings.
  • Promote safeguarding, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with staff and external agencies.

What You’ll Bring

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Understanding of educational systems and services.
  • Excellent communications skills to establish contact and build relationships with parents, carers and families.
  • Ability to prioritise, stay calm under pressure and build positive relationships.
  • A caring, professional, flexible approach and commitment to children’s welfare.
