About this Role

About this Role

Stephenson Academy

Stephenson Academy provides education for students both male and female aged between 9 and 16 years. We are the local SEN provision for students with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).  We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality curriculum, truly individualised to meet the needs of our students, ensuring successful outcomes for all. We have a cohort of staff who are from all walks of life which has created a truly dynamic and diverse team.

Stephenson Academy uses a pathway model to support our students in the best possible way. We have 3 pathways and we are seeking a lead for each pathway, to support the teachers, support and students within the assigned pathway to reach their full potential.

Our Pathways:

Explorer pathway is for students who have a primary need of SEMH with ASC and/or other learning difficulties. This is commonly known as our ‘nurture’ pathway. The students follow a timetable which is more aligned to a primary experience, where they stay with their form tutor for core subjects and then visit specialist teachers for certain subjects. The support staff assigned to these classes will stay with the class as they move to the specialist subjects such as DT, Catering and PE.

Investigator pathway is for students who have a primary need of SEMH with ASC. The students follow a timetable which is more aligned to a secondary based experience, where they will have specialist teachers for most subjects.

Discoverer pathway is for students who have a primary need of SEMH with ADHD. The students follow a timetable which is more aligned to a secondary based experience, where they will have specialist teachers for most subjects. However many of these students are also on reduced timetables for a variety of reasons.
