About this Role

It is an exciting time in the English Department at Becket Keys Church of England School. Following our recent and successful Ofsted we are looking to appoint a teacher to support our team for a one-year period. The initial role will be focused on teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classes with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. This role would suit either a newly qualified or a more experienced candidate.

If you get along well with other people, want to be in a friendly environment with plenty of cakes and coffee, and if you enjoy working with highly motivated students, then we want to hear from you!

English is a particularly strong department in our school and consistently delivers very high standards in terms of progress and attainment. Students thoroughly enjoy their English lessons at this school with very good numbers continuing to A Level. Students are taught a highly engaging curriculum to ensure students develop a high level of proficiency in reading and writing alongside a superb curriculum knowledge of literature throughout the ages. We are supported by the Russell Education Trust, and the successful candidate will have regular support, assistance, and guidance from our excellent senior English adviser.

We have a lot of information about the school on the website, but we are also keen to welcome applicants to come for a tour and a face-to-face meeting with the head of department.

If you would like a conversation about the school or the position, please email us at vacancies@becketkeys.org.

We reserve the right to close advertisements early. Advertisements will therefore close at 12 noon, either on the advertised closing date, or the day the decision has been taken to close the advertisement early.

Becket Keys is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The appointee will be committed to our high expectations and core values – we welcome applications from teachers irrespective of their faith or belief.  However, we ask for applicants to appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and have strong moral principles.

Staff of the school benefit from priority admission for their children. Our admissions policy effectively guarantees staff a place in the school for their children. With over 800 applications for our 150 places each year, this is a significant perk! In addition, staff will be provided with a comprehensive induction programme and laptop, childcare vouchers are available, and an excellent neighbouring provision offers discounted rates for staff members.

To Apply

Please complete both our application form and equalities monitoring form and email it with a personal statement to vacancies@becketkeys.org.
