Senior Leader – Teaching & Learning (Coaching and Professional Practice)
Location: Belfairs Academy – Secondary (11–18)
Contract: 12‑month fixed‑term (with potential for permanency)
Salary: Leadership Scale (commensurate with experience)
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by agreement)
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience in leading and/or coaching are essential.
Role Purpose
The Senior Leader for Teaching and Learning will play a central role in strengthening the Quality of Education at Belfairs Academy. This is a practice‑focused senior leadership role, designed to improve classroom practice through coaching, professional learning and evidence‑informed pedagogy. The role sits on the Senior Leadership Team but is not an operational post.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for teaching and learning across the school.
Develop the consistently strong classroom practice aligned to curriculum intent and implementation.
Act as the school’s lead instructional coach, supporting teachers and middle leaders.
Design, implement and evaluate a coaching‑led CPD programme.
Use evaluation activities (lesson visits, work scrutiny, outcomes analysis) to inform professional learning.
Support consistent approaches to assessment, feedback and adaptive teaching.
Model excellent professional practice and maintain a credible classroom presence where appropriate.
Contribute to whole‑school strategic planning as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Support preparation for inspection and external review relating to Quality of Education.
The role will include a small teaching commitment.
