Midday Assistant

 Salary: Band A Point 1 - 6 (£5,542.41 - £5,932.22 per annum) 

10 hours per week - 11.30am-1.30pm (Monday – Friday)

 37 weeks of the year – term time only 

Start Date: 1st September 2026

East Tilbury Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, committed and flexible Midday Assistant, to support students over lunchtime. This shift pattern will allow the Midday Assistants to prepare the school for the lunch break, fulfil the lunch time duty and support with any matters at the end of lunch time as the children return to class.

The Midday Assistant’s create a very positive, happy, and secure environment in our playgrounds, dining hall and the school building at lunchtime. Your primary role will be to maintain the safety, welfare, and good conduct of pupils during the lunchtime break. This role would be suited to someone enthusiastic, personable, empathetic and able to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner, under pressure. Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The successful applicants will: 

  •  Have a good level of Maths and English
  • Interact with the children to encourage good social skills and will lead outdoor activities to encourage participation
  • Encourage healthy eating, preparing the tables, supervise outdoor play, supervising the clearing up of games and toys, administering first aid and using the school’s behaviour plan 
  • Ensure the safety and care of pupils who are injured or unwell & provide comfort if distressed 
  • Assist children with Personal Care where necessary 
  • Be willing to undertake training, including First Aid
