The Marlborough Science Academy St Albans is looking to employ a Cover
Supervisor to join our successful and oversubscribed Academy for students aged
11-18. The purpose of this role is to support high standards of teaching and
learning in the situation where a class teacher is not available. This is a
demanding role that requires an individual with an engaging personality,
confidence and a desire to make a difference to the students.
Ideally, we are looking to employ an individual who is committed to
pursuing a career in teaching and who would value experience in the classroom
prior to applying for a teaching qualification course or programme. The
successful candidate (if aiming to progress to teacher training) will be a
graduate, will have good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE grade c or above -
will be tested), be confident with IT to support lessons and be able to work
both unsupervised and as part of a team. The potential to manage classroom
behaviour effectively is essential. Previous experience in this role or with
working with students of this age would be desirable however we will provide
initial training and continued CPD for the successful candidate. We would look
to support a successful candidate in securing of employment-based teacher
training and potentially employment (subject to successful selection and the
existence of suitable vacancies).
