SENIOR SCIENCE TECHNICIAN
TERM TIME ONLY AND PERMANENT POST
The Norton Knatchbull School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Senior Science Technician to lead the technical support provision across our successful and thriving Science Department.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician, or a science professional looking to move into education, to play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The successful candidate will:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Science Technical Team.
- Prepare, organise and maintain equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons.
- Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
- Support the delivery of practical work across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Monitor stock levels and manage ordering within departmental budgets.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe working practices are consistently followed.
- Support teachers in developing engaging practical activities and demonstrations.
- Contribute to the future development of practical science provision within the department.
We currently have large numbers of students studying A Level Sciences; many of whom go onto to study Science-based undergraduate courses. Being adaptable and willing to take on all challenges is essential, as is an interest in all areas of Science.
In return the school will be able to offer you a supportive and friendly work environment, dedicated and highly skilled teaching and support staff and opportunities for professional development. The working hours are usually 8am-4pm with the potential for flexibility. The role is term time only plus 2 INSET days and is paid on KSE £29,167 per annum / £25,144.87 pro-rata.
