SCALE M1-U3 (OUTER LONDON ALLOWANCE) + TLR 1B (£12,516)

FULL-TIME

We are looking for a Head of Year who is also a strong classroom practitioner in English to join our highly successful school. St Mark’s Catholic School, graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in September 2022, is a vibrant and inclusive community where students are encouraged to excel and achieve their full potential. Our students are exceptional, and inspectors acknowledged the high standards of behaviour at St Mark’s: “Behaviour in lessons and around the school is exemplary, and pupils show high levels of respect to each other, to staff and to visitors.” (Ofsted). The Pastoral team are key to the success of the school, and this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

We have an ambitious and collaborative department with excellent resources, facilities and extracurricular provision. Our English department was ranked 6th in the country for progress at GCSE and our students achieve exceptional results, with 55% of grades awarded at 9-7 last year.

We are looking for someone who has:

High expectations and a commitment to enabling students to fulfil their potential.

A desire to foster positive relationships with students and staff.

Motivation to try new ideas and keep pushing creative boundaries.

Excellent classroom management, organisation and teaching skills.

The ability to teach English to KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5.

Highly effective communication skills.

What we are offering:

Opportunities for high-quality professional development.

A friendly and helpful staff who genuinely care about staff wellbeing alongside our Catholic ethos.

Opportunities to teach either English or Media Studies at A Level, where students achieve incredible value added scores.

Fantastic students who are keen, motivated and display excellent behaviour for learning in every lesson.
