About this Role

TEACHER OF TEXTILES & ART (MATERNITY COVER)

JOB TITLE: Teacher of Textiles & Art

BASED AT: Samuel Whitbread Academy

SALARY/GRADE RANGE: MPS/UPS

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of the Art & Textiles Department

The Bedfordshire Schools Trust (BEST) is a multi-academy trust providing exceptional education across our community of 11 schools and five nurseries. Since forming in 2016, we have grown significantly into one of the largest single employers in Central Bedfordshire. We now educate more than 5,000 children across the area, from nursery age to advanced level study.  It is our aim to grow the BEST in everyone, and everything we do is driven by our values, but our aims can only be achieved if we recruit, retain and develop the highest quality workforce – and we want those we employ to be valued in the workplace.  The first five years of BEST has been a real success story – and we are looking forward to an exciting future, too.

We are looking for an inspiring, enthusiastic and collaborative Textiles and Art Teacher to work within our fantastic Art Department on a maternity cover contract to commence in February 2025 or as soon as reasonably possible.

You will be a creative thinker, be driven and motivated to contribute to the development of our department. You will help the pupils develop creative and practical techniques and technical knowledge, whilst displaying a modern approach to design and the use of technology, ensuring that key traditional skills are learned and retained by students, preparing them to participate in a world of rapidly changing creative arts and technologies.

As an excellent practitioner, you’ll have a natural flair for developing practices that empower and motivate pupils to become the best they can be. We have no fixed view of the level of experience needed and therefore a successful ECT with a thirst for further pedagogical and professional development should also apply.

Visits to the Academy and the Maths Department are welcome and encouraged, should you wish to arrange this please use the contact details provided in this advert.

This role will involve working closely with the students at Samuel Whitbread Academy and you will be engaging in regulated activity with children.
