Higher Level Teaching Assistant – ARP (ASD Provision)

Permanent role - September start

 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative professional as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within our Additional Resource Provision (ARP), and when required, support pupils in the mainstream school.  This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your abilities and knowledge whilst working in a supportive environment in conjunction with other very dedicated and professional staff. 

Hours:                    31 hours per week (8:30am – 4:30pm Monday.  8:30am - 3:30pm Tuesday - Friday).  39 weeks per annum (Term time + 5 INSET  days).

 

Qualifications:    HLTA Qualification or a willingness to undertake a HLTA Qualification (in your own time - paid for by the school, completed within 12 months).  GCSE English and Maths (grades A* - C) or equivalent  

                                                                                                                                            

Salary:                      Level 3C during training - £13.47 per hour.  Level 4A once qualified - £14.59 per hour

To ensure these pupils receive the best possible provision to assist their needs, we are looking for a HLTA who:

  • Has knowledge and understanding of ASD and other conditions associated with this diagnosis.

  • Can support ASD pupils within mainstream lessons.

  • Day to day, the role will be that of an LSA.

  •  To cover absence periods of the ASD Lead Teacher with confidence, by teaching the class from the cover provided and providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress.

  •  Ability to liaise with staff across the Academy to ensure inclusion of pupils with ASD & SEND.

  •  Has a calm, caring but firm manner.

  • Is flexible with regard to working practices and timings.

  •  Can undertake educational tasks and attend to the social and personal needs of pupils with ASD, under the guidance of the ASD Lead Teacher.

  •  Can work with individuals and small groups in order to support the learning and development of pupils with ASD and a variety of SEND needs.

  • To efficiently prepare, maintain and use appropriate teaching materials and equipment, including organising the use of audio/visual and ICT equipment, bearing in mind the efficient usage of school resources.

  •  Ability to contribute to planning and preparation of lessons and teaching materials, including contributing to the development of IEP’s and personal/pastoral support plans and will require the understanding of aims, content, teaching strategies and intended outcomes.

  •  Ability to contribute to assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.

  •  To work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team, in particular the ASD Lead Teacher, the SENCO and other teaching assistants; working at all times within school policies and procedures.

  •  To support a team of teaching assistants; giving guidance, support and advice.

  •  To attend staff meetings on Mondays until 4:30pm.

  •  Willingness to undertake further professional training, as appropriate.
