Higher Level Teaching Assistant- Fixed Term

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative professional as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.  This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your abilities and knowledge whilst working in a supportive environment in conjunction with other very dedicated and professional staff.  The school will decide which year groups you are deployed to.

Hours:                      28.75 hours per week (8:45am – 4:30pm Monday and 8.45am – 3:15pm, Tuesday – Friday). 39 weeks per annum (Term time + 5 INSET days).

 

Qualifications:        HLTA qualification desirable. GCSE English and Maths (grades A* - C) or equivalent.  

                                                                                                                                              

Salary:                     Level 3C (without HLTA qualification) - £13.47 per hour

                                 Level 4A (with HLTA qualification) - £14.59 per hour

 

Contract:                  Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2027

Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Day to day, the role will be that of an LSA.
    • To cover periods of teacher absence, by teaching the class from the cover provided and providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress.
    • Ability to undertake a range of teaching activities with confidence, working effectively with individual pupils, groups of pupils and whole classes.
    • To promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in the learning activities in which they are involved.
    • To efficiently prepare, maintain and use appropriate classroom teaching materials and equipment, including organising the use of audio/visual and ICT equipment, bearing in mind the efficient usage of school resources.
    • Ability to contribute to planning and preparation of lessons and teaching materials, including contributing to the development of IEP’s and personal/pastoral support plans and will require the understanding of aims, content, teaching strategies and intended outcomes of lessons.
    • Ability to contribute to assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
    • To support expectations of pupil attitude and behaviour and assist in securing appropriate standards of discipline to create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment for pupils learning.
    • To maintain familiarity with the relevant requirements of the curriculam to assist with the effective teaching of basic skills and support work and to ensure that opportunities are taken to develop pupils’ learning and skills.
    • To support the teaching of literacy, numeracy or other specific curriculam areas as directed.
    • To work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team, in particular the class teacher, the SENCO and other teaching assistants; working at all times within school policies and procedures.
    • To support a team of teaching assistants; giving guidance, support and advice.
    • To attend staff meetings on Mondays until 4:30pm.
    • Willingness to undertake further professional training, as appropriate.
