About this Role

Bartholomew School

 Teacher of Science (Chemistry): TMS

“Pupils flourish at this exceptional school” Ofsted 2024

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher of science to join our excellent department from September 2026. We are particularly keen to receive applications from chemistry specialists, and we offer the successful candidate a commitment to providing excellent professional development and support in developing their career. This could be a colleague new to the profession, looking to begin their career at an outstanding school, who would be supported through our excellent ECT programme; equally, we would be delighted to receive applications from experienced teachers seeking new challenges. For candidates with the relevant experience there is the opportunity of a TLR position as Head of Chemistry within the Science Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join this oversubscribed academy that has been judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding in both 2009 and 2013 and most recently in May 2024.  The School has a long-held tradition of high academic standards nurtured within a caring, inclusive school community.

Science is highly successful at all Key Stages and is one of the school’s lead departments. The subject is very popular, and students achieve very strong outcomes whilst enjoying excellent learning experiences.  There is a strong team approach in the department and the school as a whole.

Bartholomew School is in the village of Eynsham, five miles from Oxford and serves the surrounding rural area.

Bartholomew School and the EPA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Successful candidates will be required to undertake and receive a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service check as well as attending safeguarding training as part of this role. Please also note that, due to Safer Recruitment in Schools, we usually seek references after long-listing candidates and before short listing takes place, to allow adequate time for the return of references.
