About us

Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy opened in January 1965 as The Blessed John Houghton Catholic School to provide a secondary Catholic education in the local area. The school has grown in size and reputation ever since. We are an 11-16 comprehensive school, providing education for girls and boys of all abilities and we pride ourselves on our inclusive nature. You will be responsible for:

Working with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
Promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
Giving support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement

The successful candidate will be able to build effective working relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues and will adapt their approach to meet the needs of all pupils.
