The Headteacher is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of
English to join our vibrant and successful English Department. This is a
fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual to become part

The Role
As a Teacher of English, you will join a collaborative and supportive team
of 13 subject specialists. You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering
engaging and inspiring lessons that encourage a love of literature and
language, while supporting students of all abilities to achieve their full
potential.
For candidates with appropriate experience, there may be the opportunity to
teach English at Key Stage 5.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver
high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and KS5, if
applicable).
- Use a range of teaching
strategies to inspire and challenge students.
- Assess, monitor and
report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the
development and refinement of the English curriculum and departmental
resources.
- Support and promote a
culture of reading, writing and critical thinking.
- Establish positive
relationships with students, promoting high expectations for behaviour and
learning.
- Work collaboratively
with colleagues across the department and school.
- Contribute to wider
school life, including form tutoring and enrichment activities.
- Engage in ongoing
professional development and reflective practice.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A degree in English or a
closely related subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status
(QTS), or completion of initial teacher training by September 2025.
- A passion for English
and the ability to communicate this effectively to students.
- The ability to plan and
deliver engaging lessons to students of varying abilities.
- Strong understanding of
assessment, feedback, and differentiation.
- Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills.
- A reflective and
resilient approach to teaching.
- A commitment to high
standards of achievement, behaviour, and student wellbeing.
- A willingness to
contribute to the life of the department and school community.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching
English at Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5 (this may include during
training placements).
- Familiarity with current
curriculum developments in English.
- An interest in
contributing to extra-curricular activities or enrichment opportunities.
