About this Role

About this Role

We have an exciting opening for a Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our first-class team of TAs who work with our teaching staff to raise the learning and attainment of students by providing them with assistance so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning and reach their maximum potential. Whilst previous experience of working in a secondary school setting is advantageous, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. The role may be of interest, but not limited, to graduates with an interest in pursuing a career in teaching as it allows the opportunity to build classroom experience before beginning a teacher-training course.

The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with students and be able to adapt to their individual needs to support their learning.  They must also be able to demonstrate positive attitudes, values and behaviours to develop and sustain effective relationships within the school community and have professional regard for the school’s CHARACTER values and ethos.

Staff who opt into the Local Government Pension Scheme will receive a generous employer contribution equivalent to 22.6% of salary. In addition, we offer free on-site parking, a bike-to-work scheme, a subsidised canteen, free eye tests, an employee assistance scheme and annual flu vaccinations.

This role includes regulated activity in relation to children and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exemptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

Denefield is committed to safeguarding, safer recruitment and promoting the welfare of students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our comprehensive recruitment and selection processes aims to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. Successful candidates are subject to rigorous pre-employment checks. All short-listed candidates will be subject to online searches and any successful candidates will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All candidates will be required to submit the names of two referees, one of which must be your most recent employer. CVs will not be accepted.

We are equally committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity. We aim for our workforce to be representative of society and that each employee feels respected and able to give their best. We are committed to providing equality and fairness in our recruitment and employment practices and not to discriminate on any grounds. We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.

Applications should reach us by 9.00am on Monday 30 June.

Early applications are highly encouraged and we reserve the right to call candidates to interview before the closing date.

Denefield School would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

  1. Why are you interested in this role?
  2. What relevant experience do you have?
  3. What personal qualities do you have that you feel will benefit you in this role?
