About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Biology (TLR 2B) to play a key role in curriculum development, leadership and management within the Science and Social Science Faculty.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Biology at KS4 and KS5, working closely with the Head of Faculty to ensure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the subject. The role will also include contributing to faculty-wide priorities and undertaking additional responsibilities as delegated by the Head of Faculty.

A central focus of the role will be to improve student outcomes, with particular regard to students with SEND and those in receipt of the Pupil Premium. The postholder will be expected to use assessment data effectively, promote inclusive classroom practice and support colleagues to secure strong progress for all learners.

This role would suit an experienced biology specialist who demonstrates:

  • Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to curriculum development
  • The ability to lead, support and develop colleagues
  • A clear focus on raising attainment and closing gaps in achievement
  • High expectations for student behaviour, engagement and outcomes
