About this Role

·         Prepare materials, tools and equipment required for Design & Technology lessons, including supporting the use and maintenance of CAD/CAM equipment such as laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers and vinyl cutters.

·         Support teaching staff in the preparation and delivery of practical lessons, including producing CAD drawing or digital files for teaching resources or student projects when needed.

·         Maintain DT workshops, ensuring they are organised, clean and safe learning environments.

·         Carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs and checks on machinery and equipment.

·         Ensure all equipment complies with health and safety requirements and report faults where necessary.

·         Manage stock levels of materials, components and consumables, including ordering when required.

·         Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment.

·         Support the safe storage and disposal of materials in accordance with health and safety regulations.

·         Assist with demonstrations and provide technical support during practical activities when appropriate.

·         Ensure that appropriate risk assessments are followed for practical work.

·         Support students in using tools and equipment safely under the direction of teaching staff.

·         Assist with the preparation and display of student work.

·         Provide administrative support to the department where required.

·         Support the department with organisation of coursework moderation and examination preparation where relevant.

·         Take responsibility for the safety and welfare of students when working in practical environments by supporting high standards of behaviour within the workshop environment.

·         Liaise with outside agencies to support Health and Safety inspections, PAT testing and with any dust extraction issues.

·         Maintain workshop first aid kit and become First Aid trained.
