We are looking for;

·         A qualified and enthusiastic team player to work under the direction of the Head of Department to enable students to access learning and to assist the class teacher in the management of students and the classroom

·         The successful candidate to have some involvement in students’ personal care, where we provide additional resourced provisions for physically disabled students – both male and female

·         An individual who is committed to delivering active and engaging learning, which enthuses young people and motivates them to want to succeed

·         An individual who can set targets that stretch and challenge students of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions

·         An individual with a continued commitment to their own professional development.

The Streetly Academy would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

  1. The Teaching Assistant 2 role requires supporting students with a Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND) . How would you promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students ?
  2. The role requires setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting student self-esteem and independence. Describe the strategies you would use to encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher .
  3. The Teaching Assistant must promote good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents. How would you manage difficult behaviours while maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans?
  4. The successful candidate must possess an empathetic understanding and commitment to the personal needs of students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities . Outline your basic understanding of child development and learning , and how you would apply this knowledge when implementing Action Plans, One Page Profiles, or Personal Care programmes for individuals.
  5. Beyond classroom support, the Teaching Assistant assists with the supervision of students outside of lesson times, including accompanying teaching staff and students on visits, trips, and out of school activities. How would you contribute positively to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school while carrying out these duties?
