 Pastoral Leader

37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Salary Range Grade I Point 22-26 (£33,699 - £37,280)

£29,838 - £33,009 (actual salary)

 

We have an exciting opportunity to add to our extensive and dynamic student support team, and are looking to appoint an excellent Pastoral Leader to assist in the operational support, care, and guidance system of the school. Leading a cohort of students, you will ensure high levels of attendance, outstanding student behaviour & engagement, and significant academic progress.

 

The Pastoral Leader will work directly with the Assistant Headteacher, the Senior Leadership Team and the wider pastoral team including: Attendance officers, SEND Team, DDSLs and Pastoral Support Workers as well as with outside agencies, students and their parents.

 In particular, the Pastoral Leader will need to ensure a consistently high standard of care and professionalism, in achieving the following:

         To be the lead member of staff for an identified year group, being accountable for driving high attendance, outstanding student behaviour and engagement, and high levels of progress.

        To develop positive relationships with all students, with a particular focus on supporting the most challenging and vulnerable students, and their parents/carers

        To work directly with the students within the year, as the lead member of staff for that Year Group (after the Assistant Headteacher)

        To work cohesively in a team with all pastoral leaders to ensure that consistency and processes are in place to support the holistic needs of the student.

        To be pro-active in ensuring student adherence to school policies, challenging students within the year group and contacting parents, as necessary

        To be an advocate ofTherapeutic Approaches’ within the school conducting meetings between high profile students and other students, parents and staff

        To support the investigation of major incidents involving students that are linked to high profile students.

        To manage all arrangements relating to external curriculum provision

        To implement Stage 2 and 3 attendance systems and provide appropriate support and actions for this process.

        To implement and support the staged behaviour monitoring system and provide appropriate support and actions for this process with students, staff and parents.

        To conduct parent meetings, for example, relating to behaviour, attendance or following parental concerns.

        To implement and review pupil support plans and provisions on provision mapping.

        To provide comprehensive organisational support for identified years group events within the identified year group.

        To take the lead in preparing and representing the school in meetings with outside agencies, for example, Family Conversations and assessment meetings, preparing reports for Looked After Children, and in working with complimentary education

        To attend Child Protection and Child In Need meetings where required

        To support school policy as appropriate, in particular relating to child protection, confidentiality, and health and safety issues, and working as a designated member of staff for Safeguarding.

        To monitor and update electronic records using the appropriate software systems and procedures.

        To lead assemblies and support the work of the Form Tutor.

        To report weekly data to Assistant Headteachers linked to the year group based on attendance, behaviour and progress.

        To complete a termly behaviour and attendance report

        To take the lead on tasks specific to each year, including;

  • GCSE options evening
  • Study skills events
  • Primary activity days
  • Student induction day and all aspects of transition
  • GCSE exam support and preparation
  • Achievement evenings
  • End of Year events such as the Prom and the Year book.

         To undertake other tasks in line with the above accountabilities as directed by the Assistant Headteacher or other relevant member of the Senior Leadership Team
