We are seeking to appoint a passionate individual to help drive a love of reading and literacy across the academy alongside the day to day management of a traditional library.
Overall
Purpose of Post:
● To manage,
develop, promote and supervise the academy’s Library.
● To plan and
deliver, alongside teachers of English, library based lessons for key stage 3
students, aiming to develop students’ literacy and encourage reading.
● Within the
library the post holder will ensure that all students and staff have ready
access to a broad and relevant range of reading matter, reference materials,
research tools and information services. This will support literacy and
teaching and learning throughout the school, facilitate independent learning,
and encourage reading for pleasure.
● Provide Post 16
study support, including providing guidance on study habits and monitoring
study spaces to facilitate highly effective independent study. This guidance
will take many forms and after liaison with the Sixth Form achievement team,
will involve mentoring a small number of students deemed to need additional
support with their consolidation approach.
● Delivery of the
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) to a small cohort of students as part of a
Sixth Form extracurricular offer.
● During times
within the academic year the library will provide an additional space for
examination students, including those with access arrangements. During these
times the post holder will be asked to provide examination support as an
invigilator.
● To support small group interventions of Key Stage 4 students around essential examination times.
